- Normal Hair: It is considered to be the best hair type as no excess dryness or oil. Best herbs for normal hairs are Red clover, chamomile, horsetail, marigold, rosemary and crushed lavender flowers.
- Oily Hair: Oil is basically produced as a result of pollution, hereditary or poor diet. Recommended herbs for oily hair are dried leaves of peppermint, rosemary, burdock, nettle, tea tree, orris roots and lemongrass.
- Dry Hair: The best thing about dry hair is they don’t need daily wash. Herbs best suited are red clover, elder flower, comfrey leaf or root, crushed lavender flower, crushed orange flower, chamomile flower, jojoba oil and marigold.
- Black Curly Hair: This type of hairs requires special care. Herbs recommended for this type of hair are sage, nettle leaves, crushed lavender flowers, comfrey leaves, jojoba oil, indigo root and rosemary leaves.
Recipes for Preparing Homemade Shampoo:
- You need olive oil castile soap this is easily available in any health food store. From the same store you can choose one scent like lavender, peppermint, rosemary, tea tree, almond, eucalyptus and aloe vera baby mild. Mix both of them in a 5 gallon jug with saponified oil. This homemade shampoo will produce sufficient amount of lather.
- Herbal shampoo requires 2-3 dried herbs suitable for your hair type. If you have blonde hair and you wish to retain the color then prefer herbs with lighter color. In case you are using fresh herbs then you need to use triple the amount of dried herbs. To prepare herbal shampoo you need to boil 7 ounces of distilled water. Take 5-6 tbsp of herbs of your choice in a strainer. If you are using whole flowers then before using you need to crush them. Pour boiling hot water on the herbs, and then squeeze them with the help of the back of spoon. Depending upon the strength of the mixture allow herbs to steep for 10-30 minutes. Mix this herbal mixture with 4 tbsp of liquid castile soap, your herbal shampoo is ready for use.
