Hair Care Tips for Dry Hair

The normal moisture level of hair is 10% and when this moisture level decreases, hair becomes dry and frizzy. Therefore, you need to take good care of your hair by following a hair care regime which will help you moisturize your hair properly. Following are some of the tips for combating dry hair problems and these have been proven effective and given positive results many times over:

  • One of the most important remedies to cure dry hair is to limit the use of heated hair styling tools such as hair curler, hair straightener, blow dryer or hot iron. These tools may give you a stylish look but they will end up damaging your hair further.
  • Avoid hair colors unless you have grays, as these products will also dry your hair and make your hair even drier than usual. And always use a low pH shampoo.
  • Massage your hair with some essential natural hair oils and leave them overnight. Wash it off the next morning. Coconut oil, castor oil and Olive oil are some of the best hair oils.
  • Wash your hair twice a week with a mild shampoo and conditioner. If you are suffering from dandruff problems, wash your hair every alternate day using a mild anti dandruff shampoo and avoid using shampoos with harsh chemical components.
  • Use a good conditioner and deep condition your hair at least twice a week. Remember while conditioning your hair; apply the conditioner from the middle of the hair till the tip. Avoid applying to the scalp as this will create built-up grease and worsen the dandruff problems.
  • You can also try applying some vinegar to your hair to add shine. Take apple-cider vinegar and dilute it with water in ratio of 1:7 and apply this to your hair after shampooing.
  • Often many hair experts also recommend the use of mayonnaise or yogurt as natural hair conditioners. Apply mayonnaise to your hair and leave it on for about 5 minutes before shampooing your hair thoroughly.
  • Use hat or cover your hair with scarf while going out in the sun and avoid exposing your hair in direct sunlight as the sun’s rays not only damage your skin, but also damage your hair leaving them dry and lifeless .
  • People with sensitive hair and have allergic problems can also opt for baby oil for moisturizing your hair.
  • Last but not the least, drink a lot of water daily and eat healthy diet for healthy hair and to keep your hair soft and smooth.

Follow the above mentioned tips on a regular basis and maintaining a proper hair care regime will help you combat dry hair. Also, eat healthy foods; include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet, because your diet plays a vital role in keeping your hair healthy.
